About the Jewelry

14913_626363040713001_2130995315_nGlass is a medium with limitless possibilities. Many processes and tools are used in the creation of my pieces which may be fired up to four separate times to achieve the desired result. The glass is fired (melted) in a kiln, much like pottery, to fuse (or stick) all the little bits of glass together.

I use several types of glass – but possibly the most beautiful glass is called dichroic. What is dichroic glass? It is glass that is coated with metallic oxides such as titanium, magnesium and silicon. Dichroic means ‘two colors’ and the glass is called this because it reflects one color while transmitting (the light that passes through the glass) light. Fun fact: dichroic glass is used in laser technology and in scientific measuring equipment.

How do you know that you have a Calinoff original? Each and every pendant is signed by me. Of note: all the findings are sterling silver plated.

I offer jewelry of all types – from pendants, earrings, bracelets, adjustable rings, cufflinks, pin/pendants, hair clips and bobby pins, key chains and am always working on something new.
